Responsive Web Design

October 26, 2012

Here is an article on responsive web design. http://blog.teamtreehouse.com/beginners-guide-to-responsive-web-design

I first heard about responsive web design when a friend tweeted this link. http://date.davidhoang.com/

My computer whisperer friend went on and on about how well done this guy’s site was, never mind it is a hilarious personal ad. A boy looking for love. <le sigh>

Nick Pettit, who wrote the blog post does and excellent job explaining and describing the responsive design. Derrek has also mentioned it a couple times in lecture, but I am not sure he used the word “responsive”. He has described the importance of having a website fit various screens, etc.

I was just at Internet Librarian 2012, and my favorite session was entitled “Mobile UX: Responsive Designs & Tips.” It consisted of two interesting presentations by Roy Degler (Oklahoma State) on using Foundation, a CSS framework, and by William Helman and Juan Reyes (University of Baltimore) on how they implemented a user-centered approach to create a more interactive website.

This is pretty cool! My article is about the Golden Ratio, and it was probably written before this became common. Fixed layouts are about my speed right now, but who knows?
