The Power of Digital Story telling

April 5, 2012

In my research for the latest assignment I came across this wonderful example of what digital storytelling is all about. It is done in the video format so it’s a little different than what we are working on, but I find it exemplifies the purpose of this story telling format and the power of a personal story. ~ Linda

    Hi Linda,

I think the message in this video is very touching and heart wrenching. I think this young lady story is too common place in our society today. And that far too many young people are being abused and mistreated causing them to miss out on the childhood experience. Also the narration and the images in the video were so on point, that they made the storyline flow and also enhanced the message in the story.

    Good find.

Thanks for sharing the video! It was definitely a powerful example of how digital storytelling can be used to not only share a person’s story, but to also bring attention to issues in our society that should be addressed.

Wow! This was a very powerful video. There are many benefits to digital storytelling. They don’t just educate others about the struggles some face, but it also helps those who work with organizations meant to help stay motivated. There are so many obstacles (funding, politics, etc.) that make you question if you are making a difference. Hearing these stories makes you want to keep going! Thanks for sharing.
