Final Project: Job Seeker Library

March 9, 2012

I haven’t really thought about what my final project could be. I tend to over think things, and coming up with many (MANY) different options. One thing I would like to try is an online job seeker library. We have a Resource Center that is a mini library focusing on job search. We have books, computers, copiers, etc…available for free. Unfortunately, we can’t meet the demand! We just don’t have enough computers. Having a job seeker library that includes our in house information and gives them the flexibility to access this at home would alleviate some of the traffic.  The site would include articles on job search, tips, information on the services we have, job leads we get, and community resources among other things. I know this can turn into a huge project, but I’m hoping that the version I can create as my final can serve as a tool to convince management to consider updating our current website.

A pathfinder to job search resources or perhaps to job search help for those who can’t or don’t know how to use those resources? Think about this in terms of not “all job seekers” but in terms of “job seekers a public library serves” and I think the answer becomes apparent: how to fill out an online application, how to make a resume as file rather than paper, etc.
