My take on the FB IPO is less about the business and more about the information ecosystem.  This is a good read as it touches on an issue we will visit later in the semester: when storage is essentially free (marginal cost of an extra byte approaches zero) then the decision to add to the collection is moot; all items get added. The role of librarian is narrowed in this world. We no longer decide on what goes in (everything in), but how it goes in so that it can be retrieved later.

    This is so exciting to me. Service companies collect terabytes of information every year. I think its a prime opportunity for information professionals to make themselves valuable to these organizations. To help with securing that data, organizing and storing it, and/or making sense of it.
