internet exploder

January 29, 2012

A quick note to all students. I’m getting feedback from some for whom the course site is not functioning. Without exception it is a result of using Microhard Internet Exploder©. We’ll talk more about this later in the semester, but keep in mind that my course site is only tested on Firefox. If a student wishes to use some other browser, that’s OK, but your experience is likely to be mediated by people who feel it is their right to extract $$$ from you and the world just to access the Internet.

I’ve also noticed that in Firefox, if you try to open an item from the tasks/destinations menu in another tab or window, you get a 404 error. This isn’t a major problem, but I just thought I’d share.

This is because normal browser functions like “forward” “backward” and “new tab” are meaningless in the context. Each “page” you see is generated dynamically from a combination of information in a database and facets about your login session passed to the DB.
