Digital Storytelling – NORAD Santa Tracker

December 1, 2011

One of the fun sites I like to check out this time of year is the NORAD Santa Tracker. Beginning Dec. 1, NORAD brings this site online. Each day up until Dec. 24, they reveal a new game or activity in the “Countdown Village” page. Then on Christmas Eve, you get to track Santa’s progress throughout the world in Google Earth. As he makes stops world wide, they post “news update videos” relating to where Santa is at in the world. My oldest daughter gets a kick out of it. My youngest one does too, but she gets a kick out of most things that light up and make noise. Heck, she’s only two. Anyway, it’s a bit of fun with technology and reminded me of our digital stories and what we have done this semester in this class.

Oh yeah, check out the About NORAD page. It’s a cute little story as to how the NORAD Santa Tracker starter back in the 1950’s. Happy holidays and good luck with the last bit of the semester.
