Web Safe Hexadecimals

October 25, 2011

It seems like forever ago the excitement of making a website customizable with color codes overwhelmed me; now I take it for granted. In Week 6 we discussed access for everyone including the disabled and to consider these things while designing our sites. When I was searching for color codes I came across this link with a great set of Web Safe Colors, something easy on the eyes for everyone, including those who may be color blind. Not only is it in peaceful hues of cool colors, but as the site claims “Color palette of all 216 web safe colors that are shown the same on all browsers”:

I’ve definitely relied heavily on online code listings like the one you’ve provided here. This one is great because all of them are websafe on all broswers so you can ensure the uniformity of your website. I also like this website that has more (not all web safe) colors with their rgb codes listed along side the hexidecimal: http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm. Only downfall with that site is that you can’t know how your colors will look on every broswer.

    Thanks for the resource!

Very good resource. I’ll be sure to bookmark this site for the final project. I like that they even take into consideration those that are color blind when posting the websafe colors. Something that I hadn’t thought of, but is of course, immensely important

I like it! One of the things we have learned in this class is to try and make things work on all browers. This site will go a long way in helping achieve that goal. Thanks for sharing!
