week 7 grading

October 13, 2011

I’ve finished grading the week 7 assignments and have but one comment to make on the quality of work: be sure to test that the form works and writes to file and to set permissions on the output file to 666.

Many earned EC for the trivia by making my love of jazz and Monk two separate things (which they are). I was expecting Monk and kitties as the two things, but I always try to give EC when possible and applaud any effort to get more from less as that’s the essence of programming.

I will be commenting on final project topic proposals throughout the day but will make a general comment here. It pretty much HAS to be an LIS-related topic or I’m not doing my duty to your future e-portfolio. If you are stumped or simply don’t know what to do, you can always mark-up a paper from another class or do a simple path-finder on a topic you know about. In this case less is more and the idea is to have the student work on the container (website) rather than do research, etc. on the topic itself. Remember we are about the jug and not the milk.

Lastly, I’d like to see healthy discussion about topics posted by your peers. Take the time to think about what is proposed and offer thoughtful feedback where possible.
