Final Project Topic: Library Instruction

October 7, 2011

Each fall, our library provides orientation programming for first-year dental students.  Typically, this includes a general library orientation, augmented by a separate presentation on research methods and databases.  The responsibility for planning and presenting library orientations falls to our lone reference librarian (because our library is so small, we only have one).  This year, support staff had the opportunity to help with this task and I really enjoyed the experience.  For the final project, I’d like to focus on library instruction, specifically orientation and the promotion of information literacy.

That’s sounds like a great site! I’m taking an archives and manuscripts course now and the importance of library (and archives) orientation and instruction cannot be emphasized enough.
