Life in Every Language

October 29, 2010

I really liked this article about using digital storytelling to help students learning English as a second language. The process of telling their story allows them to embrace their heritage and their own personal story. They are able to gain a sense of pride for their background and see how that makes them unique, while also allowing them to discover how they fit in to their new environment. Telling their story in English helps them with their language skills, and using technology helps them gain essential skills that can be applied in various ways. I love new and innovative ways to teach, especially when they are as multi-dimensional as this particular exercise.

I retrieved the article from the King Library, so you may have to enter your student ID to access it…

This article is very helpful for me. I live in an area where many do not speak English, and are having difficulty as a result.
