Youth Services

October 8, 2010

I am a youth services specialist in a public library, so I will be doing something to do with children’s literature. I noticed that someone else is also interested in this so maybe we can bounce ideas off each other? I haven’t decided if I want to concentrate specifically on the literature, or on programming that includes the literature… I’m not sure. But either way, my final project will include youth services in some aspect.

Hi Tawnya! It was me that mentioned doing something to do with youth services– I’d love to share ideas, although if Derek approves I’m still hoping to change my project topic to something else.

BTW, do you work with an Elizabeth who’s also doing the program?

Hi! Sorry it took so long to reply! I do actually work with Elizabeth 🙂 We will be graduating at the same time! It has been so awesome being able to bounce ideas off her for the eportfolio… it is also nice to actually see someone you go to school with! Did you take a class with her as well?

Programming would be interesting, but for purposes of this project it might be fun to focus on the literature itself. This could even be a website *for* children, to get them excited about different books of series.

    Hey Tawnya!
As jbrasch said, it might be easier for us to focus on literature. On my final project, I want to make it for teens to use rather than a website about teens. I think I will include a page or two for programming because it wouldn’t be focused for teens if it doesn’t include the programs we offer at the library. I just hope I can make everything work.

I feel the pressure as time gets closer to end of Oct…then Nov…next thing you know, it’s Dec!

Materials for teens and programming is a good topic.
