Thoughts On Second Life

Since my first foray into Second Life a couple years ago I’ve been waiting for the next version, where it feels smooth and easy to navigate.  For the time being it seems that ease of interaction has trumped immersive environments for most people.

This class gave me my first experience of interacting with others in Second Life and I do see the appeal, having a physical  presence does increase the sense of interaction.  However, the awkward movements of the avatars made it look like talking to a group of second graders who’ve had a week of recesses rained out.  Second Life is ripe with potential, but at least for me it’s just not there yet.
