Final Project: SCI-FI Professional Resource Collection

I would like to create a site that features and reviews some important selection/collection tools and professional development resources pertaining to the genre(s) of science fiction and fantasy (SFF). However, since the two sub genres are both so large, I have decided to focus primarily on science fiction. Science fiction is a broad subject area that requires subject knowledge for librarians charged with selection duties.

Awesome! *is jealous that you thought of it first* It looks like a very broad topic though. Are you thinking of focusing specifically on collection development, or reader’s advisory, or what? Maybe it would help to narrow it down to a further subcategory, like YA SF stories, or SF graphic novels, since it is so broad.

      Hi Kelli-
Yes, the focus is on collection development tools for the SCI-FI genre. This will be adapted from a already completed project from the SLIS Collection Dev course. Thanks for the comment!

I have decided to change topics from Sci-Fi Collection Tool Review to a Library Audio Preservation/Digitization Service. After some contemplation and a current bleak employment outlook I may try create my own business (at least while job hunting). I figure I have to play to my strengths, not having a whole lot of library experience and the fact that I am already receiving a lot of “rejection notices” from applications or placed way way back on eligible waiting lists. I am a former LA record producer from the late 90’s, have an BA in Multimedia, library practicum experience in managing analog to digital projects, and will soon have a technical path influenced MLIS (graduating in a few weeks). I have purchased the domain in case I want to transfer the site over once my senna account goes dark.
