Diana’s Final Project.

March 10, 2010

I would like to do a website  focusing  resources for those representing themselves in a divorce.  This is what I have come up with so far: the home page would have an overview of what the site provides; there would be a basic how to do legal research page;  one page with general reference sources (with brief explanations of each link); California Family Law sources (also with brief explanations of each link); a family resources page (department of child support services, district attorney, counseling services, treatment programs, etc);  and  a section on how to find an attorney you can afford.  I have not decided whether to break the legal research section into two parts and may come up with other pages, especially since we will probably have to insert a RSS feed.

    Hi, Diana —

I like the idea of a Library of Divorce! You could have some really useful resources gathered in one place — and yes, having an RSS or other news feed might help, especially if laws are likely to change.

great! but an important aspect of this is the inability of non-lawyers to give legal advice…liability issues

I know. That is why it is a how to do research site withlinks, and what those links on the general reference section a link to The Blue Book (a citation guide), or on the forms section a link to the section on the California Courts site where forms are available. I also have a list of providerssuch as the Pro Bono Project or Legal Aid and what they do. I will have to put on a disclaimer thatthe site does not endorse them. Diana
