Eira Tansey’s final project topic

March 9, 2010

I would like to select the topic of unprocessed backlogs of material in archives. This is a problem that is common to many (if not most) archival repositories, including the one I work in. I am aware of some articles related to this topic, particularly the famous article by Greene and Meissner, “More Product, Less Process”.

Good topic! I did a paper on this last year comparing the results of a couple libraries who implemented minimum standards processing. One (Yale special collections, I think) promised a follow-up on the effect of minimum standards on the research process. Not sure if that’s been published yet but I am really interested to hear about the reception from researchers.
