Jasmine’s project idea

October 5, 2009

I haven’t had the opportunity to work in a library and so my experience is pretty limited.  My old high school library doesn’t have it’s own website, so I’m thinking about designing/developing one for it.  It’s a pretty old library and with all the budget cuts,  I thought it might be cool to give the library it’s own page to promote it within the high school website.

What kind of website are you thinking of? Some low-budget schools/universities just have pages within the overall school site that may be designed differently, but aren’t altogether separate. I suppose it may depend on whether you have an online-accessible catalog and/or databases. Schools that don’t tend to have small and dependent library websites. If still potentially awesome. What would you do with a full library site inasfar as promotion?

A website for a high school library would be extremely useful for the students. It could be a kind of “PR” for the library. A run through of any material or databases (if any) which are available, some kind of tutorial, even if there is an after school program as we had in the high school in which I worked. You could do so much with this website.

This is a fine project. Consider it approved.
